Musselburgh Primary Care Centre

The Musselborough Primary Care Centre is a new £21 million state of the art health centre which will provide will new accommodation for three GP practices and related healthcare services and clinics, including some currently provided at Edenhall Hospital.  These include podiatry, physiotherapy, community paediatric services, community dental services, speech and language therapy, clinical psychology school nurse teams and outpatient clinics.

The new development represents a significant investment by NHS Lothian in East Lothian’s healthcare services. The integrated facility promotes joint staff working across clinical services, but it also allows each service to retain its own sense of identity. One way it does this is to offer users ready and efficient access to the individual departments. This has been achieved by the inclusion of a central boulevard, which has a transparent roof that allows natural light to flood the interior space.

Tubecon fabricated the complex steel structure for the roof. A specific requirement from the local community was that they wanted a building which was light, bright and airy. Working alongside Dawn Construction and Vector Foiltech, Tubecon fabricated and installed a series of curved circular hollow section roof trusses to create the striking roof design and to support an ETFE roofing system.
