Oasis Academy Mayfield
Oasis Academy Mayfield is the first school rebuilt under the guidance of Southampton’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF) team. Currently the school is on two separate sites and the new Oasis Academy Mayfield is being rebuilt on one of its existing sites to provide a new three-storey school building. The design of the new building will include sustainable features, along with a floodlit multi-use games area.
Novum Structures Ltd invited Tubecon to tender, and subsequently awarded the contract to them for the supply, fabrication, delivery and installation of the complex structural steelwork for the ETFE roof structure over the central atrium. Collaborating with the Novum design team.
Tubecon were able to deliver the steelwork on a fast track basis in just over five weeks. The Oasis Academy Mayfield is part of the Government’s programme to provide 400 Academies in England and Wales over the next few years, and provides a new iconic building for students and teachers starting school in September 2011. The Academies specialism is Global Communication. It believes that students should be given the best possible opportunities and support to enable them to develop academically, socially and physically.
