Project Zero
Project Zero
A new steel bridge has been added to a 10,000 m2 industrial unit for Progroup, one of Europe’s main manufacturers of containerboard and corrugated board. The link bridge will connect two existing units on the site.
This design and build for this project includes a portal frame with a mezzanine floor, offices and a link bridge to the existing building. Billington fabricated and erected approx. 500 tonnes of structural steelwork for the project. The bridge fabrication and design was completed by Tubecon, a member of the Billington Holdings group.
Now completed, Progroup and Lincolnshire-based packaging manufacturer Krystals operate at the new £20 million packaging park. It combines Progroup’s high-tech corrugated board plant with the specialist packaging production that Krystals provides. Their production and IT systems are also interconnected which considerably increases the level of flexibility and efficiency in the production processes.
The corrugated board formats which Progroup produces are transported directly to the Krystals production facilities on time and with the precise quantity required via a transport bridge. This makes Krystals Progroup’s first packaging park customer integrated at the same site in the UK. The investment shows how committed both companies are to the site in Ellesmere Port in the long term.
